CAD (computer-aided design) is how we model a product digitally before it's made physically, for new concepts, existing designs, or refinements to a product you already have. It lets us test and adjust the design before committing to prototyping or production.

We'd usually recommend it. A physical prototype helps assess form, fit and function in a way a digital model can't, and catching an issue at prototype stage is far cheaper than catching it after a production run.

Yes. 3D scanning digitises a physical object, which gives us a starting point for modification, reproduction or further development, useful if a project doesn't begin with a drawing.

Reverse engineering is building a usable design file from an existing physical part, often combined with 3D scanning. It's useful when you need to modify, replace or manufacture something you don't have original design files for.
